On February 16th in Pittsburgh the Panthers dropped one to the Mountaineers, 66-48. Pittsburgh played well in the first half, and went into halftime down 26-25. But West Virginia cruised to an easy victory in the second half.

Ultimately, this was an unexpected loss for the Panthers. The Panthers had beaten the Mountaineers earlier this season, 72-66.

West Virginia battled tough and came out ahead in assists and offensive rebounding.


West Virginia created many more second chance opportunities with a total of 12 offensive rebounds to only nine by Pittsburgh. West Virginia led an even offensive effort and put up 15 assists to 11 by Pittsburgh. A big problem for Pittsburgh was its 48 points, which was far below its 69.9 season average.

Tray Woodall was the leading scorer against the Mountaineers with 12 points on 31% shooting in 33 minutes. Woodall also came up with a game-high eight assists.
